It’s true. This site / blog began because I was cooped up indoors with too much time on my hands. You know, idle hands are the devil’s work, or something like that…
Ken, Drace and I had just returned from the Bicycle Tour of Colorado. I was fired up! I’d been breathing fresh, clean mountain air for a week, riding every day, meeting lots of great folks, having adventures and “getting in shape.” I was ready to ride. After months of only getting out once in a while, I was feelin’ good!
The lightning storm that set California on fire rolled through the night we left for Colorado. When I called Susan to let her know we’d arrived in Durango, she told me the smoke at home was so thick she couldn’t see across the street and the air quality was so bad she didn’t want to go outside. She was cranky and her eyes were burning. I was happy to be in Colorado!
When we reached the California border on the way home, we hit the wall of smoke. My eyes burned, my lungs clogged, I started feeling grouchy. Welcome to California!
Susan and I had a week together before she flew east to visit family.
When she left, I settled into a routine: get up early, watch the Tour de France (last 30 miles or so), have a cup o’ coffee, and read the morning paper. Those guys take about an hour to ride thirty miles, but the network stretches it out to two. An hour of commercials. The same ones, over and over and over and over!
I learned that a Saab turbo recycles it’s hot air for an extra boost of energy. If only I could do the same!
So, I’d hit the mute button and surf the internet during all those commercials.
So, there you have it. You are the recipient of recycled hot air!
